My Infosmack Cloud Computing Rant

I Was Marc Farley's Guest on His Great Tech Podcast

I was invited by Marc Farley, HP's tech-savvy social media guru, to appear on a recent Infosmack podcast. I did my best to sound smart, focused, and sane. You be the judge.

Marc is one of the world's leading authorities on the topic of enterprise storage, having written what's considered the Bible of the industry, Building Storage Networks, several years ago. He's been a top consultant, a Dell executive, and came to HP recently through its acquisition of 3Par, where he worked as the company's social marketing guru.

Marc's a funny guy with a serious streak, or maybe a serious guy with a funny streak, and has now completed more than 100 of these Infosmack podcasts. He's done a lot of other marvelously creative stuff on various blogs, podcasts, and videos. He asks non-stop, penetrating questions, and remains focused on core enterprise IT issues, even as he lightens things up a little to keep his audience's attention.

I enjoyed the experience, even though I needed to be ready to roll at 7am to work within his late-afternoon recording schedule in Silicon Valley.

We ended up focusing a lot of the conversation on big infrastructure in China, something I've written about quite a bit recently. As with any serious IT conversation, we were just able to scratch the surface - but it felt like we did provide some value to technology providers and buyers who are looking to increase their presence in Asia, particularly in China.
