REDMOND, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/11/08 -- Data I/O Corporation (NASDAQ: DAIO), the leader in programming solutions for Flash-based memory and microcontroller device applications, has expanded its family of Just-in-Time Programming solutions today with the announcement of an all new in-line automated programming solution, the ProLINE-RoadRunner XLF.

"The first ever in-line automated programming solution, the ProLINE-RoadRunner was originally targeted for high-volume wireless applications," said Dave Rohona, Business Development Manager for Automotive applications. "However, device geometries for automotive applications come in larger sizes and represent a significant growth application. Driven by customer demand, the ProLINE-RoadRunner XLF is an important platform extension."

The ProLINE-RoadRunner XLF programs Flash memory and microcontroller devices using our latest FlashCORE II programming technology. Only 100% successfully programmed devices are delivered to the pick-point of the Siemens assembly machine for placement onto the circuit board. The Extra Large Format (XLF) RoadRunner supports device sizes up to 32 mm square and tape widths of 32 mm and 44 mm. In addition, the RoadRunner XLF can be reconfigured to support small to medium sized devices in tape widths of 16 mm and 24 mm. The system is ideally suited for the automotive Lean and Six Sigma environments and provides "Just in Time" programming capability, realizing inventory cost reductions and high quality standards.

The RoadRunner XLF also features new Automatic Supply Application software enabling SIPLACE machine operators to control the RoadRunner's operational commands from the SIPLACE machine's user interface. The Automatic Supply Application software allows the user to select a Job, set or change the Job quantity and command the RoadRunner XLF to start programming when the SIPLACE line starts production.

Data I/O's RoadRunner XLF will be initially available exclusively for Siemens assembly machines and is an ideal match for Data I/O and Siemens mutual customers who wish to minimize cost and increase quality by programming devices with a lean process.
